I have recently acquired a game known only as:
MORTAL KOMBAT
As I began playing it and expecting some typical MK fighting from it I discovered how WRONG I actually was...
Gameplay:
About the best I've EVER seen in an MK game...
You have a HUGE selection of characters I haven't seen since MK Armageddon, tho two have to be unlocked via Story Mode... Each of the MANY characters (idk exactly how many, to take a guess around 30) has a unique fighting style and set of special abilities along with something known as an X-Ray attack..
In the Story Mode the opening scene is actually the end of MK Armageddon (Shao Kahn's ending) and is very gore filled... [Be wary all with light stomachs/ whom get sick easy.]
The Story Mode cycles you thru each of the Good/Neutral alligned characters and goes on in chapters, beginning with Johnny Cage and ending with Raiden.
I guess the story is actually just Raiden getting memories from his future self to prevent certain things from happenign, but as Raiden attempts to stop these outcomes, several still happen OR it happens to someone else.
Enough spoiling the story now...
Graphics:
Simply OUTSTANDING!! You can actually see the small details often overlooked in video-game design in MK9's characters.
The "Kombatants" have many small details like finger nails and also, over kombative time, their armor/clothing becomes ripped apart and even their flash is torn off a little bit!!
Male fighters are typically either fully armored or fully robed/clothed in some pretty detailed/intrestingly designed stuff.
Female fighters NEED MORE clothing.. -_-;; Coming from a guy, this sounds kinda weird, but seriously? Why would someone be nearly completely nude while in a Kombat zone? Get some clothes PLEASE!
Weapons are given every little detail possible.
Unique special attacks are EPIC looking, tho Raiden's lightning teleportation move could've looked A LOT better...
The Kombat Zones/Arenas are given not only epic foregrounds but AWESOME backgrounds as well... And you can always spot something new each time!
Multiplayer(online and Offline):
In my opinion it's not about winning or loosing (unless achieved via EXTREMELY unfair means), but in all sense the MK9 multiplayer is AWESOME!!
The gameplay can be sometimes hard to follow online if you're playing with some with your same skill level as this leads to A LOT of clashes between moves and blocking.
Offline you can have up to four players (online I'm not entirely sure on), tho I'm not sure how it works as of yet..
2-Player Kombat is a blast, and the Arcade Ladder is a true test of your ability if you are playing on a high level of difficulty.
Some online players have a horrible habit of "spamming" moves (mostly with Smoke) and making it impossible to strike them.. These "Spammers" are typically people who lost constantly or are "Newbs/Noobs" who think it's cool and funny..
Note to them: REAL KOMBATANTS USE ALL THE MOVES AT THEIR DISPOSAL PEOPLE!! XD
Overall:
I LOVE this game and hope to all that they may get a copy that will change the way they look at Mortal Kombat! ^^
I rate it 9/10 due to female characters and "Spammers".
Thnx for reading this and enjoy your day her at the BGS!
While many of you may simply see this website as a means of getting your fandom known to others who share your passion, this site is where I met my friends, and started doing something with my life. Which is, in itself, ironic. |
